AHHHHHHHHH TYCHO CAN READ! He decided we should re-read all the Mo Willems’ Elephant and Piggie books and he just casually started choosing whether he was going to read Piggie or Elephant Gerald every time like it was no big deal. It is SO COOL to be helping him interpret font size and weight and italics for the appropriate delivery of each line. I love it!!!

This month was jam-packed again! Tycho had his first school performance! It was really fun to go to “Follies” and hear his class sing their song… and see what a difference even a few years make. And the 8th graders!! They rocked it!! Wowza. Really special night, Nova was so excited to see Tycho and friends on stage that she was shouting their names, and we even stayed up late and had gelato with Grandpa Bill. Tycho also had his first school art show; his favorite part was probably the snacks in the library and playing with Nova in the yard.

Kristan’s half marathon got cancelled, so she ran a trail half a week later and accomplished her goal of running a sub-2, and then a couple weeks later ran a half by herself in the park… just because? Max is concerned about her running buddies being a bad influence, i.e. convincing her to run more haha. 45 miles in 8 days!

Alas, yet again this post could have been titled “an unfortunate trip to Hawaii”… our grand plans to visit Aunt Brittany and Uncle Sean were derailed by Nova getting hand foot and mouth, then Tycho and Max getting sick too. We holed up in their guest house, visited pandemic-style with them on their lanai and us on the grass below, and kept our distance when we went adventuring. In good news, Kristan never got sick and Tycho now loves volcanoes! Hilariously, we had the perfect beach daycation at Ocean Beach the weekend after we got home… and all we had to do was take the train for 20 minutes.
