We started this month with a really tense few days — the fate of our beloved pedestrian promenade in Golden Gate Park was up for a vote and we all pitched in to support the campaign to keep it! The pre-election polling indicated it was going to get rejected, but the results came in and the voters chose to keep it by a landslide!

In the middle of the month the kids did the usual kid things like grow up when you aren’t looking. Nova figured out how to climb up stairs with a rail, met another Nova, and learned how to sign “train” after just a few minutes of watching the light rail go by at a park. (She has so many words now! She says mama, dada, dog, hi, yeah, and belly button (“baBAH!”) and signs water, more, food, cheese, and train.)

And at the end of the month we did something really momentous – we got on a plane for the first time since 2020! Nova’s first airplane trip and first trip to Maui to visit GG and Papa D. We had so much fun splashing at the beach, reading books from the library, making art with GG (so much art), eating all food (Nova), making friends with Kuma the dog because she was actually only eating *most* of the food (also Nova), and realizing it’s just easier to let Tycho sleep in a loft than it is to have the kids share a room right now. And we even had a night away from the kids at a hotel! AMAZING!
