Well, this summer was something. Something not normal at all, in so many ways, but one of the joys of being a toddler is living in the moment… so we tried to enjoy what we could, however we could! (And normal needs improvement anyways!)

We have our little rhythms. Thursday is trash day, and Tycho collects all the “trash-blocks” in the living room. Friday is jazz day and we all dance to a concert from the SF Jazz Center. Saturday is tiki-day. Music Class Monday, Taco Tuesday, Sushi Sunday. We’re working on basic toddler skills: using chopsticks, getting undressed, saying please (no whining, thank you), night potty training.

We went camping a few more times when the wildfires allowed; Tycho is a pro now and collects a hug toll on most of the bridges we cross. We explored the natural spaces of SF – the botanical gardens, the beach, even the zoo under some apocalyptic skies. Tycho started “playing preschool” with Mama and asks every day if it’s time for “ku-ku” / “p-sku” / preschool. He loves learning about letters and numbers, but his favorite part is always the books. Oh the books. We read so many books!! “Color Week” was a blast for all three of us (even if Daddy really needs a purple shirt).

Now that summer is officially over, we’re looking forward to warm sunshine-y days, decorative gourd season, lots of Tycho hugs and maybe – just maybe – a pumpkin beer or two.
