Tycho had his last week at the Woodland Preschool! It was fun and wonderful and a little sad. One of the other parents made a yearbook with photos from the whole year – it made Tycho’s day and really helped him with the transition. Having his two weeks off be at “summer camp” with Nova at her forest school was also perfect!

In other big news, Kristan ran the SF Marathon – her first full marathon! She was training all summer and it was a lot for all of us, it is nice to not have Mama need to run for 2-4 hours straight every weekend!

“Run run run it’s so fun fun fun keep going til you’re done done done” was my mantra…. I decided from the start to walk the hills and to take 30 second recovery walks every 5 minutes or so if I needed to. It got me across the finish line!

Big thanks to my TN Cheer Squad — Carly, Josh and Luna were in Vietnam, 14 hours ahead of us, so they texted me dumb messages and photos for the first three-ish hours and that was amazing. They went to sleep shortly after I got to the park, right before I saw family and friends in person – perfect! I loved the energy of the crowds, though the second-to-last 5K stretch through the Mission was awfully hot and quiet. I ached enough at that point that I was running mainly on determination (…”Keep going til you’re done done done”.)

I wanna do another marathon someday, but maybe a flatter course. I’m looking forward to how easy a half marathon is going to feel after this!
