Is this the earliest we’ve ever published?!

This was… a really big month. First, Nova graduated from preschool and we all felt all the feelings. Kristan and Max had one last field day and then it was Moving On Day. The kids were all so excited to run down the “race track”, leap over the branch they had painted together and rush into their families’ arms! One of the teachers spent the week gathering messages from each kid to “the forest” and Nova’s was: “I love you forest, you’re my best friend, I love playing with you, forest.” Which is just the sweetest, most amazing thing and it’s hard to say bye to the forest! But she’s also really excited for kindergarten and can’t wait to go to Tycho’s school. She was a little sad that nobody else from her TK will be there, but she’s also thrilled to get to have a bunch of new friends to play with too.

Next we had nearly a straight week of Tycho-centric days. He had his end of the year Park Study presentation about the park he designed, named.. Park Park! Then that very day he received his final swim class ribbon *and* had his first piano recital. He was determined to play without his book! We were very proud of him and went to sushi to celebrate. Then he had his birthday party with his classmates at the campground in the Presidio – he just wanted to run around and have fun. Capture the Flag kids vs adults was very memorable but according to Tycho was super boring, because the kids won so handily! Then just our family and Tycho’s best friend spent the night and we biked the kids to school straight from the campground. (Because Nova’s camp was in the Presidio, she spent nearly 24 straight hours in the Presidio, ha!) Then the big 8! Tycho’s birthday started with a treasure hunt around the house. We read a silly story to his class and then the four of us biked to Japantown for shopping and meandering and getting conveyor belt sushi for dinner! (The kids decreed it was fun but also not very good, and that we never need to do it again hahah) Then it was the last day of 2nd grade and Nova crashed the end of the year party at the park, she was so happy to play with soon-to-be classmates who were there too. Whew!

We thought the rest of the month would settle down but instead we… took Tycho to a World Cup game and Nova to Hello Kitty afternoon tea; flew to Seattle to see GG and Papa D and go to a Mariners game and see the Space Needle while we were at it; watched the World Cup as much as we could (a winning combination of sports, geography and Who Will Win?, so now it’s all Tycho thinks about); ran a few races; had the kids bike to summer camp every day; had a nostalgic visit to the original forest where Tycho and Nova first went to preschool; and celebrated the return of the library bookmobile to Golden Gate Park!

Good thing July will be less crazy 😉

  1. I am early – too – in viewing lovely photo report😊
It must be demanding to grow up in 2026 at such a fast pace.
Still, the comments make viewing more enjoyable.
