We really wanted to do a maternity photoshoot this time, since Tycho came so unexpectedly early and we didn’t get to do one — so we took some photos at home and then went for a lovely walk through Golden Gate Park. It was perfect timing because Kristan wasn’t so pregnant she couldn’t go for a walk and because when we got home there was a message from Kristan’s midwife saying we needed to start the induction! What a day.

We went in the next day and the whole adventure was over in less than 16 hours! We had been singing “Here Comes the Sun” to Baby with Tycho every evening and it must have been a sign, because Baby arrived right after sunrise. Then came the hard part — figuring out her name! You’d think after all this time we’d have it sorted out, but nope, that’s not our style, we had to meet Baby first. But by the evening we were pretty sure and by the morning after, with fancy coffees in hand, we knew she was Nova!

The rest of the month was a whirlwind of sleeping/not sleeping, family visiting to help, attempts to take photos together, breastfeeding, and wishing beer sounded better. Tycho thinks Nova’s pretty great, but hasn’t quite figured out whispering instead of shouting and waking her up. Oops.
