March was a very typical month for us! School and activities and adventures. (Tycho’s teacher said something to us recently about how we are one of the most active families he knows, but I tend to forget that until I start writing a blog post….) Nova and Tycho both earned swim ribbons this month, we did a night bike ride that was so fun, I trained with my running partner, Tycho and I did a 5K, and Max went to the gym a lot (not shown).

Among the unique highlights of the month:

  • Max started a Dungeons and Dragons campaign for Tycho, his bestie, his bestie’s older sib, and his bestie’s older sib’s bestie. The first session none of us knew what to expect and it went on for nearly 6 hours 🤣 And somehow a talking squid joined their party?! D&D with kids is hilarious
  • We went to Santa Rosa for a little “tropical” staycation! We rode bikes with friends, had drinks with umbrellas by the pool and went to the Children’s Museum!
  • …Which is where Max got an idea for an app that shows you which museums you can get into for free through reciprocity agreements with the museum memberships you already have, and he immediately started mocking it up while we were still at the museum. Now you can go download the beta test version at museumpassport.app :D
  • Tycho lost another tooth! It was real loose at his dentist appointment and they told him to keep wiggling it so that it would come out and give the descending tooth some space… and somehow it was decided we should tie it to the remote control monster truck and let Tycho yank it out with a quick burst of acceleration?!
  • The kids got strep for the first time (noooooo), so we had some time away from school to craft and read and hang out in Golden Gate Park. It’s cherry blossom time at the Japanese Tea Garden so the kids got to practice their skills for the trip to Japan they keep asking about
  • It was over 80 degrees for a few days?! Nova’s school either hid in the redwoods or went to the beach. The heatwave went over a Friday so we headed to Sunset Dunes and Ocean Beach after school and had a boba&beer happy hour with friends who happened to have the same idea and saw our bikes by the beach!
