In which this intrepid writer attempts to finish this blog post about January before the end of February….
We started 2025 with a trip to Park City for the end of the winter holidays! Tycho was thrilled by tubing, multiple Lego projects, and ski lessons; Nova had her first few days of formal ski lessons and was… not amused. But she was so proud of going “on the chairlift three times AND the tunnel three times, Mama!” No skiing this time for us parents but we enjoyed seeing the kiddos on the slopes.
Lots of firsts this month: Nova’s first Lego build following the instructions by herself, ski lessons, tubing (and scary fall on icy stairs); Tycho’s first ice skating, Waymo, real eye exam; first family mini-trip (is it a “staycation” if you drive 90-150 minutes?) to a themed family hotel with indoor waterpark.
All these firsts make it so clear that the kids are getting “big”. Tycho is approaching the age of reason and Nova is clearly no longer a toddler- though she still loves and wants Mama so, so much. She goes back and forth between wanting to be with Mama and wanting to be at school- both are the best thing in her world.
And pretty much the whole month we just kept singing “Robin Hood and Little John, walking through the forest….”
