May! We had so many events this month – Tycho’s school had their poetry festival, Nova’s school celebrated the year with a bonfire on Ocean Beach and a trip on the ferry to Angel Island, Kristan’s annual Bay to Breakers party race, and a mini trip to Washington for some grandparent time. Hard to believe the end of the school year is already here!
Tycho’s reading has taken off! He just wants to hang out on the couch with his book whenever he is home. It’s super sweet to hear him read so confidently to Nova, and for him to offer when he notices she’s having a hard time. It feels like the sibling bond is really starting to click!
Nova started doing more of the afterschool program at her school. She still loves her bed, but with only a few more days left in school, it felt right to skip nap more often and have time with her friends. Funny how we all scatter when the year is done! I suppose a large part of that is that most of the families we know don’t have family close by, so summer means trips to see grandparents.
We fit in a little trip to GG and Papa D over Memorial Day weekend. The kids had special time with grandparents, and the parents had special time without kids. Win-win! Our favorite discovery was the Snoqualmie Tunnel, a former railroad tunnel turned hiking trail that’s over two miles long – without any lights. Spooky!!
Another round of experiences. Well documented!
Using those stilts looks scary!
