We had another fun-filled month of adventures and kindergarten shenanigans!
Of course there was lots of biking: Nova’s skills have flourished and she’s now biking most of the way to school; we celebrated Bike to School Day with a giant “bike bus” to school as well as Bike to Wherever Day; plus all our usual biking to and fro.
And also of course there was lots of running: the Viking Run in the pouring rain (natch); a Mother’s Day 5K for Kristan; Runner’s Night at the Giants; and the best party of them all, Bay to Breakers.
School was a surprise theme of the month: Tycho’s big Mayfest poetry celebration at the beginning of the month; Bike to School Day; unexpected scrambling after the surprise announcement that Nova’s school would be closing for good in July (woooo!); and last but not least, Tycho’s super special Celebration of Learning, a sweet play called “The Great Redwood Tree” performed in the Presidio.
Most exciting though was our early birthday present to Tycho: a trip to Las Vegas, just the three of us, to see the Cirque du Soleil LOVE show before it also closes for good in July (boooo!) We have always wanted to take him because he was so obsessed with the Beatles when he was small and then even more so when he started falling in love with circus. It was a very awesome 30 hours of fun made possible by GG and Papa D, who took care of Nova while her “other parents” were away. (Direct quote from her, about us, about an hour after we left!! Toddlers. They forget you so easily.)
Next up: Tycho’s 6th birthday and the end of kindergarten!!
